Mars and the Pleiades |
The closest distance between Earth and Mars occurred in 2020, so the brightness of Mars is decreasing, but it still stands out in the night sky. On this evening, Mars was in Taurus, close to the Pleiades cluster.
The prominent bright star Aldebaran marks the 'V' shape of the Hyades open cluster, though it is not part of the cluster. The Hyades cluster is more than twice as far away from us as Aldebaran.
