Founder Optics Refractor |
On this evening I had an opportunity to try out a new telescope which will be distributed by Hutech. The model is the Founder Optics FOT-106, a 106mm f/6 triplet refractor. The triplet is a design with widely spaced elements, similar to a Takahashi TOA refractor. It includes a flattener as well as a heavy-duty, smoothly operating 2-speed Crayford style focuser with a lock, so it's well suited for astrophotography out of the box.
All photos are stacks of about 30 frames with 5-minute exposures at ISO 1600 on a Hutech-modified Canon RP + IDAS NGS (light-pollution) filter. On this clear evening, the temperature held steady at about 55°F, with average winds of 10 MPH, gusting to 15MPH. All processing included the use of flat and dark frames. Processing was done with Nebulosity and Lightroom. |
