M16 - Eagle Nebula |
Messier 16 - The Eagle Nebula.
Below, right: A sharpened, closeup view of the area imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope as the "Pillars of Creation." Of course, this shot is not as sharp since my telescope is much smaller and under a blanket of atmosphere.
Another difference is that it is closer to "natural" colors than the Hubble image, which used false color mapping (shifting of the emission line color) of specific emission lines. The filter I used also somewhat isolates emission lines (different from Hubble) and my processing of the image does not shift the colors. The equipment used is also several billion dollars cheaper. :)
