This view, shot from near the original University of Hawaii 88" telescope not long after sunset, spans 360° and shows nearly all of the observatories on Mauna Kea as of August 2014. Despite a 1st quarter moon, Keck II can be seen using a laser guide star for high-resolution imaging of the galactic core. The apparently curved path of the laser is due to the distorted view of the flat panorama.
