Partial Lunar Eclipse - 4 June 2012

A partial lunar eclipse occurred just after midnight on the evening of June 3-4, serving as a small bonus for our little "expedition" to see the Venus transit. In the time-lapse video here, the rotation of the moon is a consequence of my simple camera tripod mounting (alt-az) setup. The photos were conveniently shot from the beachfront lawn of the condo we were staying at in Kihei on Maui. Although there were no distinct clouds interfering with the view, there was some haze present in the air.

The time-lapse frames were shot with a Nikon D700 and zoom lens at 210mm, f/5.6. ISO was 400 for 1/1000 sec. exposures shot every 5 minutes.
