Very threatening skies were an ominous prelude to the lunar eclipse which would occur near sunrise. A "cloud" eclipse and ring around the full moon discouraged most other observers from joining us at the OCA's Anza site.
On this evening only my observatory neighbor and carpool buddy Jim were crazy enough to stay till morning with the hope of clearing skies at eclipse time. But since we had already committed to driving out there, we figured that we might as well stick around. Nothing in astrophotography is guaranteed, except that you won't get any photos if you don't try!
